Seeking the Sunshine Coast's Best Managers Of 2011
The Australian Institute of Management (AIM) is urging the Sunshine Coast business community to nominate inspirational managers for the prestigious Management Excellence Awards by 10 June 2011.
In a year that has been fraught with challenges to Queensland residents and businesses, the Awards represent an opportunity to honour inspirational, passionate and talented managers for their individual contributions and skill.
Exceptional leaders from every industry and sector and at all career stages are eligible to enter the Management Excellence Awards program. Once nominated, many managers participate because the process provides in-depth self-appraisal and affirmation of their successes.
Terence Seymour, General Manager of The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital, was the Sunshine Coast's Professional Manager of the Year for 2010. Mr Seymour said that his Awards experience was both enjoyable and worthwhile.
"The Management Excellence Awards provided the impetus to more closely review my skills as a practitioner and my values as a leader. As someone who lives a reasonably full life and who thinks and reflects, I found it to be both fun and worthwhile," he said.
"The opportunity to look across industries with people from different industries is always invaluable.
"I encourage other Sunshine Coast managers to nominate and participate in the Management Excellence Awards. A nomination in and of itself speaks volumes to the person who has been nominated. Participating in the process helps managers further improve aspects of their practice and if you're selected as the winner - that's a real buzz," Mr Seymour said.
The MEAs remain one of the few Awards to recognise the individual and his or her influence on the environment in which they work. Categories for entry include the Professional Manager of the Year, Owner Manager of the Year, Young Manager of the Year, Rural/Remote Manager of the Year and the newly introduced Not for Profit Manager of the Year.
Nominations for the 2011 Management Excellence Awards can be lodged online at www.managementawards.com.au and close Friday 10 June 2011. Nominating is free of charge and only takes a few minutes. For more information, call 1300 882 895.
