Seeking Townsville's Best Managers Of 2011
The Australian Institute of Management (AIM) is urging the Townsville business community to nominate inspirational managers for the prestigious Management Excellence Awards by 10 June 2011.
In a year that has been fraught with challenges to Queensland residents and businesses, the Awards represent an opportunity to honour inspirational, passionate and talented managers for their individual contributions and skill.
Exceptional leaders from every industry and sector and at all career stages are eligible to enter the Management Excellence Awards program. Once nominated, many managers participate because the process provides in-depth self-appraisal and affirmation of their successes.
Sally Vujica, Owner of NQ BodyFix and Franchisor of Subway Stockland and Nathan Street, Aitkenvale, was Townsville's Young Manager of the Year for 2010. Reflecting on her experiences, she said that she found the Awards to be thought-provoking and transformational.
"The Management Excellence Awards was the first Awards process I've participated in. It made me really stop and think about how I go about things with respect to management, away from the daily running of my businesses," she said.
"The Awards process was beneficial to me as it made me revisit a number of procedures that I have implemented and rethink certain sections and protocols to expand on them for the better.
"I encourage other Townsville managers to nominate and participate in the Management Excellence Awards. The process allows for reflection and insight into how you conduct yourself as a leader and how you are perceived within your team. It awakens your mind to the fact that there is still a whole lot more out there to learn about management, and the Awards night was very enjoyable in itself," Ms Vujica said.
The MEAs remain one of the few Awards to recognise the individual and his or her influence on the environment in which they work. Categories for entry include the Professional Manager of the Year, Owner Manager of the Year, Young Manager of the Year, Rural/Remote Manager of the Year and the newly introduced Not for Profit Manager of the Year.
Nominations for the 2011 Management Excellence Awards can be lodged online at www.managementawards.com.au and close Friday 10 June 2011. Nominating is free of charge and only takes a few minutes. For more information, call 1300 882 895.
