Anniversary Painting Depicts Rich AIM History

Donna GibbAustralia's "Live Artist" Donna Gibb was on hand at AIM's Diamond Anniversary celebration in July to commence a 'live painting' capturing the history and essence of AIM.

This artwork is now finished and is on display at AIM Management House, Spring Hill. Ms Gibb designed the artwork to include all aspects of the Australian Institute of Management.

Members and guests who attended the 60th anniversary function were encouraged to add a brushstroke to the painting, and sign the back of the canvas. Their enthusiasm to contribute to the piece was inspiring.

In spectacular detail, the painting depicts the original meeting of Brisbane businessmen in a city building, where the concept of an AIM Queensland Charter was discussed and formed. It then follows the journey of acquiring Management House in Spring Hill, as well as utilising the old Queenslander opposite to conduct the services offered by AIM.

The artwork also pays homage to AIM's extensive regional presence, throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Beginning from left to right, the following regions and cities are depicted: Gold Coast with the hinterland range in the background, Toowoomba with splashes of colour representing the Garden City, The Sunshine Coast with the Glass House Mountains behind, Bundaberg with its lush cane fields, Gladstone Harbour, Rockhampton with its famous Bull statue, the Mackay coastline at low tide, Townsville with landmark Castle Hill, Cairns Esplanade and Harbour, and Darwin with its famous sunset.

In the painting, the Brisbane River winds its way from Moreton Bay to the City, with Management House in front.

A representation of AIM can also be seen in each window of Management House. These images include the intrinsic services AIM provides to its members: education and training, the Library, publications, meeting places, seminars, visiting speakers and networking events.
