Steven D'Souza Stars as National Networking Week Ambassador
His reputation as an international networker preceded him and Steven D’Souza didn’t disappoint in his role as the Australian Institute of Management’s 2013 National Networking Week Ambassador.
Mr D’Souza covered more than 8000km across Queensland for AIM during the week presenting his Brilliant Networking: Building Relationships and Mastering Referrals presentation and the feedback from guests told the story.
National Networking Week ran from Monday 5 August until Friday 9 August and Mr D’Souza presented to more than 300 people at AIM events in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Brisbane.
Ausenco Business Services Manager Justin Savaille attended the Brisbane breakfast presentation on Friday 9 August and said he was inspired by the content.
“Thank you for your insightful presentation this morning at AIM in Brisbane,” Mr Savaille wrote in a testimonial email. “It was a pleasure to sit at your table and hear more about your story. It sounds like you lead a fascinating life. You are very inspiring, especially as I start investing in my new career as a speaker and trainer.”
Good Price Pharmacy Chief Executive Officer Milton Burrell spoke in similar glowing terms after he attended the lunch event in Brisbane.
Praise from peers is always a solid indicator of performance and Mr D’Souza clearly left a formidable impression on acclaimed executive coach and international speaker Josie Thomson.
“It was wonderful to see somebody willing to so humbly share their story and some of the lessons you've learned to make a real difference in the world,” Ms Thompson wrote in her tribute. “My heart delighted with your genuine spirit of generosity and I appreciate who you are in the world - shine on.”
Mr D’Souza is the author of the hugely popular book Brilliant Networking and he is also an Executive Fellow of IE Business School and Programme Orchestrator for the Global Senior Management Program for Chicago Booth.
He said he was humbled to have been bestowed the honour of being AIM’s official ambassador.
“AIM is a world-class organisation and to work with them is a wonderful honour,” he said. “I met many wonderful people throughout the week and it goes down as one of my best achievements.
“I would love to one day return to Australia and work with AIM again.”
